Flitwick is a Thameslink town ten minutes from Luton Airport, which gives its residents an unusual luxury: a genuine choice for every airport run. Our Flitwick city transfers cover local taxis and pre-booked airport transfers alike, with fixed fares agreed before you travel. Get an instant quote online or call +44 1582 297190.
Flitwick sits between Bedford and Luton on the A5120, close to the M1 at junction 12. We cover the town centre around the High Street and Dunstable Road, the station area, the estates off Steppingley Road and Windmill Road, and Flitwick Moor on the town's edge. Nearby Ampthill, with its Georgian High Street and Park, is covered just as fully, along with Maulden, Clophill, Silsoe, Pulloxhill, Westoning and Tingrith.
Local bookings are the usual mix: the station, doctor's appointments, the shops, and evenings out in Bedford or Luton. Airport runs go mostly to Luton, with Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick all regular.
Flitwick station is on the Thameslink line with direct trains to Luton Airport Parkway, London St Pancras, Gatwick and Brighton. For Luton Airport, the train reaches the Parkway directly, but the journey is not finished there: the DART shuttle carries you from the Parkway station up to the terminal, on its own timetable and for its own fare.
That last leg is where the taxi earns its place. Door to terminal in one car, no shuttle, no second ticket, no waiting on a platform with cases. For early flights, when the first useful train-plus-DART combination leaves no margin, the taxi is the booking that works. For two or more passengers, one fixed fare usually beats the combined rail and shuttle tickets.
Flitwick Manor, the town's historic house, and the Greensand Ridge walks around Ampthill Great Park give the area its character. Drivers who know Flitwick know the difference between a pickup on Dunstable Road at school-run time and one on a quiet Sunday, and they plan the airport run accordingly.
It is a small thing, but local timing is what separates a booked car from a hoped-for one. Pre-booking means the driver is outside your door at the agreed time, not somewhere on the A5120.
Luton is the obvious airport: minutes away, a single terminal, and the short-haul European routes Flitwick flies most. Heathrow is the long-haul default, about 45 to 60 minutes via the M1 and M25. Stansted suits budget carriers via the A1 and M11, and Gatwick covers long-haul leisure around the M25.
State your terminal at booking. Heathrow's four terminals each have their own drop-off zone with a £7 per-visit charge (in place since January 2026), which your fixed quote includes.
Take the train for London with light luggage; Thameslink from Flitwick is genuinely useful. Take the train to Gatwick too, since it runs direct.
Book the taxi for Luton Airport runs, for Heathrow, for groups, for early flights, and for returns landing late. The DART shuttle is the hidden cost of the rail option to Luton, in both money and time, and the taxi skips it. If your flight is delayed or rescheduled, contact the office so the return pickup can be changed; delays of up to an hour are accommodated, with 45 minutes of free waiting after your flight lands (airport pickups only; £10 per 30 minutes after that).
