Dartford lives next to the busiest river crossing in the country, and every airport journey from here starts with a decision about it. Our Dartford airport transfers run pre-booked, fixed-fare taxis from Dartford to Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and London City, with drivers who plan around the Crossing rather than hoping for the best. We cover Dartford town centre, the station area, Temple Hill, Joyce Green, West Hill, Fleet Estate and the new developments along the Thames. Beyond the town: Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Stone, Wilmington, Sutton-at-Hone, Hawley and Longfield, plus Ebbsfleet with its International station and fast-growing Garden City streets.
Bluewater, three miles east, generates plenty of bookings: shoppers dropped at the centre, staff finishing late shifts, and visitors staying at the hotels around Greenhithe. Business bookings come from the Crossways business park and the industrial estates along the A2 corridor.
The Dartford Crossing, the QEII Bridge southbound and the tunnels northbound, carries the M25 (signed A282 here) over and under the Thames. It is free-flowing with the Dart Charge, but it is also the single biggest variable on any Dartford airport journey, especially for Gatwick, which sits on the other side of it.
This is where fixed fares earn their keep. A metered taxi stuck in Crossing traffic charges you for the queue; our fare is agreed before you travel and does not move. Drivers check the Crossing status before every airport run and allow for it in the pickup time. If the Crossing is the problem, the M25 clockwise alternative gets weighed honestly, not hopefully.
Dartford station has frequent Southeastern services into London, to Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria, and the high-speed service from nearby Ebbsfleet International reaches St Pancras in minutes. For London trips, the railway is the obvious choice.
For airports, it depends on the airport. Gatwick is reachable by train with changes, and some travellers make it work. Heathrow by rail means crossing London. But the rail journey that matters most here is the one people forget: getting to the station with luggage at 4am for an early flight, when the useful trains have not started. A pre-booked taxi collects you from your door at the hour the flight needs, not the hour the timetable allows.
Gatwick is Dartford's most-booked airport: the closest of the big ones for many Dartford addresses, across the Crossing and down the M25 and M23. It suits long-haul leisure, charters and a wide spread of European routes, across its North and South terminals.
Heathrow is the long-haul default and the longer drive, around the M25's western half. Stansted suits budget European routes via the M25 east and the M11. Luton is the northern option, and London City is the business traveller's shortcut into the Square Mile, a single terminal with a £8 drop-off charge for 5 minutes (in place since January 2026). State your terminal at booking; Gatwick's two terminals and Heathrow's four each need the right drop-off zone.
Take the train for London in the daytime with light luggage. The Southeastern service is frequent and Ebbsfleet's high-speed link is genuinely fast.
Book the taxi for airports, for groups, for early and late flights, and for any journey where the Crossing is behaving badly. The fixed fare is the point: whatever the A282 does, the price agreed at booking is the price you pay. If your inbound flight is delayed or rescheduled, contact the office so the return pickup can be changed; delays of up to an hour are accommodated, and the 45 minutes of free waiting after your flight lands (airport pickups only; £10 per 30 minutes after that) covers arrivals and baggage reclaim.
