Heathrow Airport Transfers

Heathrow has four working terminals, and your airline decides which one you use. Get the terminal wrong and you can lose twenty minutes driving between sites that are miles apart by road. Our Heathrow airport transfers start with the one question that matters: which terminal, and which flight. Get an instant quote online, or call +44 1582 297190 and we will confirm your fixed fare before you book.

Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5: Your Flight Number Decides Where We Meet You

Heathrow's terminals are not interchangeable. Terminal 2 (the Queen's Terminal) handles Star Alliance airlines such as Lufthansa, United and Singapore Airlines. Terminal 3 takes Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Delta and most long-haul Oneworld carriers. Terminal 4 serves SkyTeam airlines including KLM, Air France and Qatar Airways. Terminal 5 belongs to British Airways and Iberia.

Terminals 2 and 3 share the central area of the airport. Terminals 4 and 5 are separate sites, each a few minutes' drive from the centre. That layout is why we ask for your flight number at booking: it tells us the terminal, the terminal tells us the arrivals hall, and the arrivals hall tells your driver exactly where to stand. For a taxi to Heathrow Airport booked the night before an early flight, that preparation is the difference between a calm pickup and a phone call from the wrong forecourt.

The £7 Forecourt Charge and Where Pre-Booked Pickups Actually Happen

Since 1 January 2026, Heathrow charges £7 every time a vehicle enters a terminal forecourt drop-off zone. The zones allow a maximum stay of ten minutes, cameras record every number plate, and payment is due online by midnight the next day. With a pre-booked A1 car, that charge is handled inside your fixed fare. Nothing is added on the day.

Pickups work differently. Heathrow does not allow passenger pickups from the drop-off forecourts, so a proper pickup never happens at the kerb. For arrivals, your driver parks in the terminal's short-stay car park and waits inside the arrivals hall. Give us your flight number and the pickup is planned around the real arrival time, so a late landing moves the pickup instead of starting the meter. You walk out of baggage reclaim, find your driver, and go. Drivers never circle the forecourt while you wait in the cold.

The M1 to M25 Run: What the Journey from Luton Really Looks Like

Most of our Heathrow runs start in Luton, Bedfordshire, Dunstable, Harpenden or St Albans. The usual route is the M1 south, then the M25 west, then the spur into the airport. Outside peak hours the drive takes about 45 to 60 minutes. Leave at 7:30 on a weekday morning and the M25 section can stretch that toward 90 minutes, which is why we ask for your flight time and work backwards with a margin built in.

The return leg is where local knowledge pays. After a long-haul landing at Terminal 5, your driver will already know whether the M25 is moving or whether the longer way round via the A-roads is quicker. You do not need to watch traffic on your phone. That is the driver's job, and ours run this corridor every day.

Is the Train to Heathrow Better Than a Taxi?

A fair comparison helps you decide. The Elizabeth Line runs from central London to all Heathrow terminals in about 30 minutes from Paddington. The Piccadilly line reaches the airport in roughly 50 to 60 minutes. The Heathrow Express covers Paddington to the airport in about 15 to 20 minutes but costs far more than the other rail options.

All three are good if you are already in central London with light luggage and your flight lands when the trains are running. They fall short in three common situations: you live in Luton or the Home Counties and would need a train into London first; you are travelling with children, ski bags or more than one large case each; or your flight lands late at night when services thin out. A pre-booked car takes you from your front door to the terminal doors, one vehicle, no changes, at any hour.

Which Car Do I Need for a Heathrow Trip?

Two people with two cases fit a saloon comfortably: best for couples and solo travellers with standard luggage. Four adults with full luggage should take the people carrier rather than squeezing into a saloon, because Heathrow journeys often mean long-haul baggage: best for families with children and extra luggage. Groups of six to eight, or anyone moving sports equipment and multiple large cases, need the 8-seater: best for groups of 6-8, sports teams and wedding parties. Business travellers heading to Terminal 5 for a morning flight usually choose the First Class car: Mercedes E-Class or BMW 5 Series, quiet cabin, room to work: best for business travel and special occasions. Our full fleet of airport cars lists passenger and luggage capacities for each vehicle.

How Much Is a Taxi to Heathrow Airport?

The honest answer: it depends on your pickup point, your terminal and your vehicle, so we quote instead of publishing one number. The quote is the price you pay: fares are fixed on the shortest route, and the quote already includes the £7 Heathrow forecourt charge on departures, plus 45 minutes of free waiting after landing on airport pickups (£10 per 30 minutes after that).

Your fixed fare: what's inside it?

  • The drive on the shortest route to Heathrow (extra miles only if you ask the driver to deviate: £2 per mile)
  • The £7 Heathrow forecourt charge on departures
  • 45 minutes of free waiting after landing on airport pickups (£10 per 30 minutes after that)
  • Pickup moved for flight delays of up to 1 hour, as long as you tell the office
  • A free child seat when requested at booking
  • A licensed driver

Give us your flight number and the pickup is planned around the real arrival time. If your flight is delayed, tell the office so the booking can be changed: delays of up to an hour are accommodated at the booked fare, and if the company has to cancel, the full amount is refunded to the same card. Baby seats are free when requested at booking, though availability cannot be guaranteed; add the children's ages so the right seat is fitted.

Question & Answers

Check your booking confirmation: the airline and flight number determine the terminal. Terminal 2 is Star Alliance, Terminal 3 covers Virgin Atlantic, Emirates and Delta among others, Terminal 4 is SkyTeam, and Terminal 5 is British Airways and Iberia. If you are unsure, call +44 1582 297190 with your flight number and we will confirm it.
At the designated pickup point for your terminal, at the scheduled time. Heathrow forbids pickups from the drop-off forecourts, so your driver parks in short stay and waits inside the arrivals hall. The driver identifies themselves on arrival and messages or calls you directly; if you cannot find them, our support line on +44 1582 297190 will help by phone or messaging. Meet and greet with a name board can be arranged: ask when booking.
Tell the office as soon as you know, so the booking details can be changed. Give us the flight number and the pickup moves to the real landing time. 45 minutes of free waiting runs from landing (airport pickups only; £10 per 30 minutes after that), and delays of up to an hour are accommodated at the booked fare. If the company has to cancel, the full amount is refunded to the same card.
About 45 to 60 minutes outside peak hours, longer in weekday morning and evening traffic. We plan your pickup time from your flight with a traffic margin built in.
No. The £7 forecourt charge is already in your fixed fare. There is nothing to pay at the barrier and nothing added afterwards.
Yes. Baby seats are free when requested at booking, though availability cannot be guaranteed. Add the children's ages when you book so the right seat is fitted before the driver sets off.
